Much of the work we do in the city is in houses that are already lived in. We plan each system around the house as it is, with as little mess as we can manage.
Upgrading a house that's already lived in
You don't need to strip a house back to make it smart. Wireless Lutron systems let us add keypads, scenes and motorised blinds without opening walls or running new cables. An Ajax alarm uses wireless detectors, so it can be fitted in a finished home without lifting floors. Where a house does need new cable, we plan that first so it stays tidy.
We start with a walk-round, listen to how you use each room, and then send a written estimate. You can begin with one room or one system and add more later.
- Lutron lighting and blinds: scenes such as Welcome, Dinner, Film and Goodnight from a few keypads
- Control4: lighting, audio, heating, security and TV in one app
- Networking and Wi-Fi: coverage that copes with older walls and several floors
- Security and CCTV: Ajax alarms, cameras, video doorbells and fire detection in one app
- Home cinema: dedicated rooms and living-room systems

Wi-Fi that copes with older houses
Solid walls and several floors can make a normal router struggle. We replace the broadband provider's box with a UniFi network: a gateway in a rack and ceiling access points wired back to it, so each room gets a signal, and the family, guests and smart-home equipment each get their own network. We can look after it remotely as part of an aftercare membership. What we aim for is strong Wi-Fi from the loft to the bottom of the garden.
Offices as well as homes
We also install in offices. The requests we hear most often are a reliable network, lighting control that follows how the space is used, and security that can be checked from a phone. Tell us what the space is for and we'll suggest what fits.
Where we work in Birmingham
We cover the city from our office in B21. Sutton Coldfield has its own page. South of the city, see Solihull. Photographs of the kind of work we do are on our work.
If you're planning a build or renovation in the Midlands, we can take that on too, with the cabling and smart systems planned in before the plaster goes on. See home build and renovation. Building works stay within the Midlands.
Questions we get in Birmingham
Can you add lighting control to a house that's already decorated?
Often, yes. Wireless Lutron systems let us add keypads and blinds without chasing walls. We'll tell you at the survey what is and isn't practical.
Do you only work on homes?
No. We install smart systems in offices too, particularly networks, lighting control and security.
How do I get an estimate?
Use the estimate form or call 0121 716 7777. We'll arrange a walk-round, then send a written estimate. You can also email us.
